Parveen Hassan, National Farmers Union Stand,

Conservative Party Conference
It was a pleasure to spend time with the National Farmers Union, the representative body for agriculture and horticulture in England and Wales at the Conservative Party Conference. We discussed the huge contribution British food and farming makes to the UK economy. Whilst sampling the delicious vanilla, Daresbury dairy ice cream, and backing the campaign to Back British Farming, a stark reminder that food and farming contributes to 122 billion to the UK economy. In the West Midlands region, food and farming contributes to £914 million to the UK economy.

The agriculture and horticulture industry provides jobs for more than 4 million people. With high standards set globally, our British farmers produce is crucial post Brexit.

It was interesting to learn the region’s outputs. British food production and farming practices are at the heart of government policy post Brexit, which will assist our British farmers continue to put food on the nation’s tables.
