  • Women Driving Political Change

Tuesday, 3 July 2018

On the 3 July 2018, I visited the Voice and Vote, the Women's Place in Parliament exhibition, housed in Westminster Hall. The exhibition was created by the Vote100 team in collaboration with three centres of expertise at York - the Dept of History, Dept. of Electronics Audio Lab, and the Digital Creativity Labs.

With a combination of interactive technologies, the exhibition tells the story of women in Parliament, the campaigning, the protests and the achievements.

New female members of Parliament also examined how much progress has been made for women in politics, and how Parliament can be more reflective and diverse.

The exhibition, creatively, showcased political history, the women suffrage movement, including the Ventilator. 200 years ago, this loft space above the House of Commons Chamber was where women watched and listened to Parliamentary debates as women were banned from the public galleries.
