  • Women Driving Political Change

Sunday, 13 November 2016

On Sunday 13th November, I joined Quinton residents in attending the Royal British Legion, Quinton Branch Sunday remembrance parade.

As we marked our two minutes silence, the laying of the wreaths, and personal contributions, we attended the memorial service to commemorate the sacrifices of the Armed Forces. It was an honour to participate and remember the fallen servicemen and women.

After the service, we had the  opportunity to hear from former veterans and share their stories.

Alan, pictured right, a former veteran, led the parade.

Local resident, Barbara (below), kindly shared some memories of the war and her little soldier. She was touched by the service given to her belated father. Together we lay our tributes.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the Sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
